Every Saturday have be marked as “Physical Day,” and on the day, the schools plan various sporting activities in order to impart sports education to the learners.
Every Saturday there is a morning aerobic exercise from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. for classes IV and above; mass participation in exercises is encouraged. After the Aerobic Exercise, the school conducts the standard fitness test from VII-XII.
With support from the Empangeni Sports Association (Empasa), our marathoner also joined the King Cetshwayo District cross the country Marathon (21K) last year. And all the runners have completed the race. The participants were escorted by sport domain head, Mr. Dlamini and Mr Khuzwayo also made his presence to morally support our runners.
The fitness program have also seen 6 football and netball teams from different school at ENcekwane competing for the top prize. The prizes at the tournament are sponsored by department of sports and recreation and department of arts and culture.
The fitness program is the first ever to take place at ENcekwane and aims to be annual event. The vision of this tournament is to not only help learners be physically fit but it also aims to make them mentally strong so that they can study well. A learner that excels in sport is likely to excel in his academics and studies. Sports play a vital role in instilling moral values like self – confidence, punctuality, discipline, responsibility and sacrifice. Exercising and keeping fit also helps in minimizing stress.
